Alternative Petroleum Technology (APT) is an environmental technology company dedicated to comprehensive cost-effective solutions to environmental problems. We offer technologies and expertise to help operators of compression-ignition engines and industrial boilers meet increasingly stringent emissions requirements. We are developing new ways to help international power plant operators meet the constantly growing demand for electricity with heavier oil products that are made to burn cleanly, more efficiently and economically. Additionally, we are meeting the challenge of providing even cleaner combusting biodiesel fuels with new generations of emulsified fuels.


APT features emulsified fuels containing various percentages of water to reduce both oxides of nitrogen (NOx) and particulate matter (PM) pollution created during the combustion process. This technology extends to both mobile and stationary sources:

  • Emulsified diesel fuel for heavy-duty and medium-duty diesel engines.
  • Emulsified fuel oil for industrial boilers.
  • Emulsified residual oil for power generation.

APT is tailoring its technologies to meet the increasing demands for biodiesel in the 21st Century. For instance, we are developing biodiesel emulsions to solve the problem of increased NOx emissions from biodiesel blends, which are expected to be widely used because of federal and state low carbon fuel standards in the United States of America. We work with biodiesel producers and fuel distributors to ensure they are able to market the cleanest combusting biodiesel products.


APT is staffed by experts in analytical chemistry, mechanical engineering, combustion processes and regulatory affairs. We help customers understand specific emissions problems, develop technology packages aimed at solving them and assist with testing and implementation of solutions.
